Great video from Hank.

Thanks, John…

I want to be clear that I was not trying to represent every sort of sexuality that exists with these four perspectives…that’s crazy talk. This is not an “intro to sexuality” video.

Instead, I wanted four people who I know and like a lot to talk about sexuality in an open and intelligent way. Just having people talking about their experiences being people is valuable when it comes to sex because the taboo is significant, and it can lead to self-hatred, terrible decisions, and general unappiness.

I had a lot of confusion when I was coming to terms with my sexuality. So this video is basically for 14 year old me, who lived in a culture where the differences between sexual attraction, love, and gender were not discussed.

Because we don’t talk about it openly, there’s often a lot of pressure on people to hide their sexuality, or be afraid of who they are. I hope this video helps some of those people.

That being said, I would like for there to be a place on the internet where people talk intelligently about this stuff regularly and more deeply. I don’t know that I’m the right person to do it (I am busy and not an expert) but I have some ideas, so hopefully that kind of content is something the world would be interested in.

If so…I’ll strategize.

I love this video, because it helps me learn more about other people. At the town hall meeting last Wednesday where we spent two hours discussing the gender neutral and co-ed plans in Collins, I realized that there is just so much about the trans community that I just don’t know about. And the same can be said about issues of sexuality. I don’t know the terminology, I don’t know the differences between all these terms, and it all boils down to me being ignorant. I don’t like being ignorant.

So this is good.

North Korea - crazy as crazy can be

March 4, 2013

It would be fantabulous if someday I found a group of people to actually play this game with. But since it’s a game that requires arguing skills and a ginormous dose of crazy imagination (two skills I pride myself on), that eliminates most of the people I normally play card games with. HUMPH.

In which SciShow takes on an incredibly controversial topic. One which should never be brought up within hearing-distance of my mother, unless one is prepared for hours of discussion. I stand with her and will argue to the death against GMOs, for all the good it will likely do me. But it is good to understand the basics first, and Hank does a good job covering the facts.

(Oh, I should also add the little tidbit that my aunt and uncle actually wanted me to go to Purdue and become a plant geneticist and create more GMOs. It’s amazing mom and I didn’t immediately waltz out the door after hearing that one.)

I love my brother. Sorry I will stop reblogging stuff when never.
(I got to hang out with the President of the United States, and he told my unborn baby not to forget to be awesome, and also agreed with me about pennies.)

I mean, what went wrong today? NOTHING WENT WRONG TODAY.
